It's amazing to me to see how this changes year to year. When we were choosing our daughter names, neither where high if tey were even on the list... but I do know many that use this lost to truly help them in choosing the name of their child...to each their own I guess! Look forward to reading more!

Funny, but my wife and I have used this list of names to avoid! We've managed to stay away from the norm 4 times...and now we have 4 daughters with very feminine names (Angelica, Josefina, Francesca & Mikaela), but with masculine nicknames (AJ, Joey, Frankie & Mikey).
I guess it's like what "chris" before me said, "to each their own".
Great blog, I look forward to more posts.

This is always an interesting topic. Why are some names more popular than others? Is it that there were a lot of Jacobs (or Jakes) in the grandparent generation that people are honoring? Is it due to celebrities with these names or songs written about a name (I know many Michelles named after the Beatles song.) As fitandbusydad said, it's good to avoid the more common ones. Then again, perhaps kids aren't quite so nasty about them. I still get quips about my name being a 'girl's name':)
